“THE FUTURE STARTS HERE AND NOW”: TOP QUOTES FROM VLADIMIR PUTIN ABOUT RUSSIA

The inaugural event of the National Centre RUSSIA, which is being established at the behest of our country’s President Vladimir Putin, is the International Science Fiction Symposium "Inventing the Future".
The Symposium is scheduled for November 4-6 and will bring training participants from across the globe. Its mission is to rekindle public interest in the future design industry by fostering support from both government and businesses, engaging young people in scientific and technological innovation, and collaborating with science fiction writers and futurists.
The Symposium participants will include scientists and researchers, futurists and forecasters, science fiction writers, and government representatives. Together, they will explore the implications of artificial intelligence proliferation, envision the digital state of the future, examine the role of traditional values amidst technological advancement, and determine when humanity will be ready to embark on the exploration of other planets.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly articulated his vision for the future of our country. During his address at the United Russia congress in 2021, he emphasized that the vision for the future should be that of a thriving, large family.
“I frequently hear discussions about the necessity of a national idea, a vision for the future that everyone speaks of. You know, dear friends, I try to avoid grandiloquent language, yet I am convinced that the vision for Russia’s future should be one of a robust, flourishing family blessed with two, three, or even four children. No need to make anything up here.”
In 2023, during a Business Russia meeting, Vladimir Putin expressed his conviction that Russia has a bright future.
“I am confident that Russia has a bright future. Firstly, because we understand our objectives and the methods we employ to attain them. Secondly, we possess vast resources, primarily in the form of human capital.”
The head of state outlined the vision for Russia’s future in 2017 at a major press conference:
“Russia should be steered towards the future, becoming highly modernized. Its political system should be adaptable, its economy founded on advanced technology, and its labor productivity should multiply significantly.”
During the 2023 World Russian People’s Council meeting, the President remarked that Russia has consistently considered the future of the nation:
“The country has consistently been forward-thinking, and it is incumbent upon both you and me to do precisely that—always, regardless of the circumstances, to consider the future of our citizens and our state. That’s what we’re doing.”
In his addresses to the attendees of the World Youth Festival in 2017 and 2024, the President emphasized that shaping the future is directly contingent upon individuals’ actions:
“The future starts here and now. The future is you.”
“Let’s assume that the future is already here. The outcome, however, depends on you.”
Vladimir Putin stated at the 2023 Valdai Discussion Club meeting that the principles of the future world order are currently taking shape before us:
“When our entire way of life collapses, it becomes crucial to understand our direction and what we aim to achieve. The future is being crafted today, right before our eyes, by our own hands.”
During the SPIEF-2022 plenary session, the head of state emphasized that an individual can only attain success by forging a connection between their own future and that of their descendants with their homeland:
“True and enduring success, along with a sense of dignity and self-respect, is achieved only when you anchor your future, as well as that of your children, to your homeland.”
During his 2024 address to the Federal Assembly, Vladimir Putin noted that the military, among other factors, creates conditions conducive to the development of the Russian state. The future of the country and its development hinge significantly on the bravery and resolve of the soldiers engaged in the special military operation.
“Our valiant comrades-in-arms, who defend the Motherland with courage and determination, who advance into the fray, who press on amidst a hail of bullets, who lay down their lives for us and for the Fatherland — it is they, our warriors, who today forge the essential conditions for the nation’s future and its progress.”
In an article titled “Russia Consolidates Power,” which was published in the newspaper Izvestia prior to the 2012 presidential election, Vladimir Putin emphasized that it is the responsibility of the Russian people to decide how the nation will address emerging challenges and seize the opportunity to fortify its standing in a swiftly evolving global landscape:
“Russia does not retreat in the face of challenges. Russia consolidates its power and responds to all challenges with dignity. Russia triumphs over adversity and consistently prevails.” We are witnessing the emergence of a new generation of innovative and conscientious individuals who envision the future. They are already arriving and will, undoubtedly, continue to ascend to the leadership of enterprises and entire industries, government agencies, and the nation as a whole. We must rise to meet the challenges of today and seize the opportunity to fortify ourselves and enhance our standing in an ever-evolving global landscape.”
During the President’s meeting with the staff of the International RUSSIA EXPO on July 8, Alexander Molchanov, head of the “Heritage” circuit of the ANO DEA Russia, extended an invitation to Vladimir Putin to attend the International Symposium "Inventing the Future". He suggested that the event be hosted at the National Centre RUSSIA.
