Reconstruction of Facilities for the Future Russia National Centre Continues

Renovations are underway at Moscow’s Expocentre on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment to accommodate the Russia National Centre. Until the new building is completed, the Centre will be located in Pavilions No. 3, 4, and 7 at the Expocentre, with a total area of 37,000 square meters.

“By order of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Russia National Centre will begin operations on November 4, providing a permanent showcase of the country’s achievements and preserving the legacy of the Russia Expo International Exhibition and Forum. We believe the Centre will become a venue for open dialogue, a platform for envisioning the future, where all citizens of our country can participate,” says Natalia Virtuozova, General Director of the Russia National Centre.

The interconnected pavilions will be equipped with a permanent exhibition hall featuring an extensive “journey across Russia” exhibit, a hall for temporary exhibitions, a large multi-functional concert hall seating 1,600, a congress hall for 600 attendees, a business zone, lecture halls, a food court with national cuisine options, and a department store area showcasing the best products from across Russia.

“The platform incorporates the latest multimedia and convention-exhibition technologies to create a versatile event space capable of hosting a wide variety of modern event formats – from presentations to gala concerts – all under one roof,” states Nikita Pogrebinsky, Event Zone Manager of the Russia National Centre.

The Centre will officially launch with the International Science Fiction Symposium “Inventing the Future”, scheduled from November 4 to 6, which will bring together scientists and researchers, futurists and forecasters, science fiction writers, as well as government officials and business representatives.

The participants will enjoy three intense days and more than 60 events, focused on four main areas of research: the future of humanity, the future of technology, the future of a multipolar world, and the future of civilizations.

Delegates from approximately 40 countries will attend the Symposium, including Austria, Argentina, Armenia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Egypt, India, Spain, Italy, Iran, China, Canada, Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Syria, Turkey, France, and others.

On the opening day of the Russia National Centre, the exhibition “Legacy for the Future” will also commence in the temporary exhibition hall, promoting the concept of a global dialogue on humanity-centered future visions.

The first chapter of the exhibition will demonstrate the continuity of innovation, from the ideas of visionaries and science fiction writers around the world to the accomplishments of inventors. Its main goal is to inspire and encourage the pursuit of invention and science fiction.

Many objects and phenomena that are now part of our everyday lives were predicted by writers a hundred or more years ago. Through their works, fantasies, and dreams, they inspired scientists and inventors.

The second chapter will present works by young artists from Russia, China, India, and Ethiopia elaborating on the “Heritage for the Future” topic. Semyon Mikhailovsky, Rector of St. Petersburg State Repin Academy of Fine Arts, is the curator of this exhibition. The exhibition project claims that the future will be left to humans if we can keep on dreaming and finding a creative approach to the future in the form of a dialog.

The final chapter is a space where the visitors themselves can become creators of the future, reflect on existing ideas and propose new ones to improve the world. The main art object is simultaneously a lecture – a space of dialog, the pinnacle of the exhibition project, and is aimed at making each visitor think about the common future.

The exhibition will allow each visitor to realize the importance of personal contribution to the future and inspire a desire to be part of its creation.

On July 1, 2024, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin issued a decree to establish the Russia National Centre and its regional branches to showcase the country’s achievements, strengthen national identity, foster a sense of pride in the nation, develop professional skills among children and youth, and preserve the legacy of the Russia Expo International Exhibition and Forum.

The Russia Exhibition, held from November 4, 2023, to July 8, 2024, by Presidential Decree, brought together the country’s most significant accomplishments in one venue. It attracted over 18.5 million visitors and ranked among the top ten most visited sites worldwide.
