“Inventing the Future” Symposium Will Be Part of Russia’s Decade of Science and Technology

The International Symposium “Inventing the Future” at the Russia National Centre will be the flagship event for the “Designing the Future” initiative of the Decade of Science and Technology, proclaimed by President Vladimir Putin.
In line with the Presidential Decree, the period from 2022 to 2031 has been declared the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. This decision aims to strengthen the role of science and technology in addressing critical societal and national development issues, while also building on the accomplishments of 2021, which was celebrated as the Year of Science in Russia.
“Inventing the Future Symposium” will be an essential platform for discussing innovative ideas and projects that contribute to the advancement of science and technology in the country.
“The Decade of Science and Technology declared by the President encourages us to think in terms of the future. How our country and the world will transform in the strategic perspective is a topic for professional discussion that allows us to look beyond the horizon and adjust current processes to achieve optimal results, informed by past experience,” says Denis Sekirinsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Secretary of the Coordinating Committee for the Decade of Science and Technology.
The participants of the Russia National Centre’s inaugural event will include scientists and researchers, futurists and forecasters, science fiction writers, and government representatives. Among them are science fiction writer Sergey Lukyanenko; futurist Sergey Pereslegin; Director of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University Engineering Academy Yuri Razumny; General Director VCIOM Valery Fedorov; artist and illustrator, creator of the graphic style for the “Inventing the Future” Symposium, Andrey Shelyutto; art historian, architectural historian, writer, and Rector of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Arts Semyon Mikhailovsky; Director of the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, art historian Elizaveta Likhacheva; and writer, screenwriter, producer, and public figure Oleg Roy.
The International Symposium “Inventing the Future” will be held on November 4-6. The opening of the Symposium will coincide with the launch of an exhibition supporting the idea of a dialog on the future of the human-centered world.
On
July 1, 2024, President Vladimir Putin signed an order establishing the Russia
National Centre to preserve the legacy of the Exhibition and to showcase the
country’s achievements on a permanent basis. It will be located on
Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment in Moscow.
