The Heritage for the Future Exhibition Launches on the Opening day of “Inventing the Future” Symposium

On
November 4, the Russia National Centre will launch the international exhibition
“Legacy for the Future,” featuring works by young graduates of creative
universities. The exhibition will explore one of the Symposium’s key topics:
“Building on the past. Thinking about the future,” through the creative expressions
of young artists, graduates of creative Universities in participating
countries.
The
exhibition will be curated by Semyon Mikhailovsky, a member of the Presidential
Council for Culture and Art of the Russian Federation and rector of the Ilya
Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. China will be one of the participating
countries, with Qiu Zhijie, rector of the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, serving
as the curator.
“As
I envision it, the Russia National Centre should primarily be a place for
discussions, a venue for large and small exhibitions related to people’s lives,
various eras, and the different periods in the country’s history. Most
importantly, it should be a welcoming place, where people will want to visit,” emphasizes
the exhibition curator Semyon Mikhailovsky, a member of the Presidential
Council for Culture and Art and Rector of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy
of Arts.
The
thematic focus of the exhibition will be on the idea that the future will
belong to humanity if people can preserve their ability to create and think.
The organizers will pay
special attention to the latest practices in science art, an area where both
humans and modern technologies equally contribute to the creative process.
