“It’s the Environment that Makes a Man”: The Inaugural Event of the Russia National Centre Will Focus on the Design of the Future

At
the International Science Fiction Symposium “Inventing the Future,” experts
will discuss the design of the future. This section will be curated by artist
and illustrator Andrey Shelyutto, who designed the logo for the Russia
International Exhibition and Forum and the graphic style of the Symposium
“Inventing the Future”.
Shelyutto
notes that it is now very difficult to draw a clear line between design and
other professional fields, as it is hard to find any area where designers and
project artists are not involved.
“Any
anthropologist will confirm that every person depends on the environment they
live in. We use design to structure very complex processes—both social and
cultural,” Andrey Shelyutto says.
He
also emphasized the significance of the “Inventing the Future” Symposium.
“Generally,
the most important thing in any project related to contemporary creative
fields—be it cinema, music, architecture, or visual works—is that these themes,
now part of the Russia National Centre, will shape what the future
becomes," Andrey Shelyutto believes.
Andrey
Shelyutto is a Russian artist and illustrator. He also created the logo for the
Russia International Exhibition and Forum, which combines fonts representing
different eras in the country’s history. He is also the creator of the graphic
style for the “Inventing the Future” Symposium, the inaugural event of the
Russia National Centre established under the President’s directive.
The
International Science Fiction Symposium “Inventing the Future” will be held
from November 4 to 6. The symposium will bring together scientists and researchers,
futurists and forecasters, science fiction writers, and government officials.
The topics they will explore include the impact of artificial intelligence
proliferation, the future of digital governance, the role of traditional values
amid technological progress, and the timeline for humanity’s exploration of
other planets.
Alongside
the symposium, the Russia National Centre will host an international exhibition
featuring works by young artists – graduates of creative universities from
various countries. Through the artistic expressions of the youth, the
exhibition will present the themes “Building on the Past. Thinking about the
Future.”
On July 1, 2024, President
Vladimir Putin signed a decree establishing the Russia National Centre to
preserve the legacy of the Exhibition and showcase the country’s achievements
on a permanent basis. The centre will be located on the Krasnopresnenskaya
Embankment in Moscow.
