THE FIGHT AGAINST AGING IN THE CONCEPT OF TECHNOOPTIMISM
(Pavilion 7)
The Eksmo-NMG Script Room brings together representatives of cutting-edge science, tech business, and media business in one space. Participants will be tasked with developing a creative synopsis of a science fiction work within the concept of Techno-Optimism and its visualization. The team’s work will involve creating a universe with primary and secondary characters and their living environment. The setting is Russia of the future.
The process will be filmed for the subsequent presentation of the script room’s work.
Deliverables:
1. Synopsis with visualization.
2. Presentation at the Symposium – “The Making Of” video and a synopsis of the work with visualization (in pitching format).
First-level mission is to provide an impulse to revive the science fiction genre and set an ideological direction for its development.
Scaling:
A contest for writers as part of the science fiction award with SberBank (“Aelita”).
Artificial Intelligence is scheduled to participate in the expert team.
Questions for discussion
- At the beginning of the 21st century, we stand on the threshold of a new era, where aging may become a manageable process. Does that sound like science fiction?
- Is society ready for people to live 150 or 200 years? How will this affect the economy, social structures, and the environment?
- How will the world of modern science and technology, which promises to either defeat aging or push its boundaries significantly, develop?
- What are the ethical and social consequences of life-extending technologies – will they be available to all or only to a select few? How will they change our society?
- How will this affect our understanding of love, loyalty, and family? How will people with large differences in lifespan interact?
- How will this change the transmission of knowledge and cultural traditions between generations?
- How will our attitude towards risk change?
- Will humans be able to use new technologies to create a more just and healthy society?
- How will our perception of history and time change if people live for hundreds of years?
